Brookfield Academy’s philosophy is rooted in the work of Dr. Maria Montessori, a visionary who approached education from a scientific viewpoint.

Brookfield Academy students are taught with concrete materials and demonstrations to capture their interest. As Dr. Montessori did, we “follow the child,” meaning that each child has a unique learning path that we honor by teaching to the child’s ability in all of the skill areas such as math, reading, spelling, composition, and penmanship. 

Lessons in “cultural subjects” including history, geography, and science are grouped according to the child’s interests. Real-life lessons and experiments help the child to experience the lessons. Children then respond to the lessons according to their ability, challenging the children to give a little more each time.
