Brookfield teachers returned to work on Friday for a training day at Rochester Hills. Dr. LaCreta Clark from Saginaw Valley State University gave a motivating workshop on "Communicating with Families, Children and Co-workers."

The theme for this year's employees is; "You are all an important piece of the puzzle." When each employee views themself as an important contibutor, the result is the good health of the school.

Our employees include:  Associate Teachers in the classroom and in Club Brookfield, Lead teachers in Preprimary and Elementary, Assistant Principals, Administrative Assistants, Business Managers and Principals. Each one has a specific role to play in making sure that Brookfield provides a dynamic education for our students.

Afternoon workshops were held by the Brookfield principals, regional manager and divisional vice president in the following topic areas:

  • Running a Quality Afterschool Program
  • Taking a Peak at the New Toddler Program.
  • Brookfield History Curriculum
  • Brookfield Science Curriculum
  • Brookfield Specials: Lesson Sequences and Gading Rubrics

All employees are back this week preparing their classroom environments for the children they will teach this year.   Every school year Brookfield must reorganize its classrooms based on the children that will occupy them.  In this way all classrooms are geared to the age and ability range of children enrolled, making individualized instruction possible.

Montessori.Net:  Brookfield faculty members are being trained in a digital program for grading students, and planning lessons.  The program was designed for a Montessori curriculum and is flexible enough to allow for the differences between Montessori schools.  Bright Horizons Family Solutions is responsible for spearheading this program, with the help of our very own Rochester Hills, principal, Dawn McComb and her staff.

Children begin school on Tuesday, September 7th.
